Collective Kind provides mindful and ethical early care for working families of all backgrounds. Our Montessori programs are nature-based and grounded in anti-bias education with the family and community at the center. Our Infant-Toddler program is open to young ones from 14mos - 2.5 years old and our micropreschools are open to children 2-5YOS. Tuition is run on a sliding scale so that our program can be financially accessible to more families.

Two (2) full time morning teachers 8:00-4:00 (class 8:30-3:30) – a Teacher Director + a Group Teacher
One (1) part time afternoon teacher
One (1) part time administrator onsite mornings and lunch + prep coverage
Administrative and curricular support from Collective Kind founding team and administrative staff
Hiring for two (2) part time Infant-Toddler teachers
Infant-Toddler programming details:
Montessori Lessons, Snack preparation, Practical Life lessons, Sensory; Open Play; Art; + Snack; Morning Meeting + Songs; Outdoor Play; Project Period following current emergent curriculum; Lunch (brought from home) + Story Read Aloud; Closing circle / transition to nap for extended day; Nap + Afternoon snack; Outdoor play + Dismissal

1 adult per child remains onsite using the co-working space

We are looking to set up teams who can compliment each other bringing different skills into the classroom, looking for a team comprised of (1) leadership experience with a drive to collaborate, problem solve and strong initiative, (2) Montessori experience or certification (3) special needs experience (4) your own passions and interests, (5) staff qualified to meet DOHMH permit requirements (N/A for to our Infant-Toddler program).
2026 POSITION
June 30, 2026 - August 24, 2027
Hours TBD Monday, Wednesday + Friday, 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM or possibly 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Responsibilities include:
Creating a learning environment that is welcoming for and supportive of all types of learners, respectful of the child, and supports the development of independence, concentration, coordination, and care of self, community, and the environment.
Building a collaborative and effective teaching team based on clear communication, where all teachers are able to share their skills and learn from each other.
Lesson planning, creating classroom materials, projects, and activities following Collective Kind’s Montessori, anti-bias, and nature-based curriculum.
Being reliable (on time and consistent), taking care of the classroom environment (daily tidying and cleaning), and changing diapers for children not yet toilet trained.
Equitable, warm, and understanding communication (emails, meetings, and phone calls) with families.
Maintaining a comfortable co-working environment for grown ups to work in while class is in session.
Modeling kind interactions with our greater community.
Receiving and providing feedback so your school team can learn and grow together.
Observation and documentation of children’s experiences through video, photos, and written notes.
Writing weekly school newsletters for families to share a deeper view into work in the classroom.
Experience:
We are looking for teachers who have:
Two or more years experience with infants and toddlers
Montessori Certification/Experience
Special Education experience is a plus

Compensation:
Starting with a baseline entry level experience at $25/hr salary equivalent. We utilize a comprehensive Salary Band structure to determine compensation.

POSITION HOURS

EXPERIENCE:
Must meet Department of Health requirements to School Director position: Hold a New York State Teacher Certification in either: (1) Birth – 2nd Grade (including birth – 2nd grade for students with disabilities); (2) 1st – 6th Grade (including birth – 2nd grade for students with disabilities); (3) N – 6th Grade (Including Special Education) or (4) PreK – 6th Grade (including Special Education), AND have: at least two years of experience as a group teacher in a program for children under six years of age
Worked in a progressive PreK school setting
Been in a leadership position
COMPENSATION:
Salaries are determined by Collective Kind’s Salary Band structure which takes into account education background, years of experience in a preschool classroom and experience in school leadership positions.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Teacher Guide
Interview and onboard new staff joining mid-year with administrative team
As a group of Directors, schedule, plan and contribute trainings and content during Back to School Staff Week for all CK staff based on the needs of each of your individual schools
Supervise, guide and coach classroom teachers, including: leading bi-weekly one-on-one check-in meetings; big picture goal setting for all staff; weekly staff meetings including reflections on curriculum, specific student needs, teaching team dynamics, and bi-weekly mini-professional development; classroom observations and documentation of staff; keeping classroom experiences in line with Collective Kind’s anti-bias and nature-based curriculum.
Build a collaborative and supportive school team through transparent communication, constructive feedback for growth, and understanding.
Families
Lead communication with school families including supporting all families through separation and phase-in at the start of school.
Work closely with selected Family Coordinators to ensure seamless school <> family communication and support with enrollment and community event promotion, school event coordination and staff appreciation.
Partner with tuition reduction families to arrange and schedule weekly classes, weekend workshops, handyperson tasks or any other tuition reduction exchanges for the school year.
Build a close relationship based on trust and transparency.
Students
Create a learning environment that is welcoming for and supportive of neurotypical and neurodivergent children, respectful of the child and supports the development of independence, concentration, coordination and care of self, community and the environment.
Collaborate in observation of students who might need additional support, integrating service providers into classroom, support families in accessing and maintaining learning services through EI/CPSE/Private Providers.
School Systems
Maintain onsite school paperwork and records following Department of Health requirements for all staff and children with support of the administrative team.
Oversee school maintenance including daily cleaning, school supplies, snack orders, classroom organization + materials, weekly professional cleaning, care of school entrance, sidewalk and yard.
Other maintenance will be managed directly with supers and building maintenance contacts in collaboration with administration staff.
Communicate and coordinate with ongoing space rental persons.
Leader of school systems including but not limited to: health and wellness; attendance; conferences; school events (Back-to-School Orientation, Fall + Spring CK wide celebrations in collaboration with all School Directors, curriculum night, EOY party).
Collaboration with Directors other schools for teacher swaps, skills and resource sharing.
Enrollment
Host school tours for applying families, follow up with touring families and support the administrative team with schedule and details discussed during tours.
Re-enroll returning families in collaboration with administration staff.
Work with Family Coordinators to arrange seasonal enrollment promotional posts in neighborhood social media groups and email listservs
