Eco Art Studio

Teaching artist Gabi Moisan (she/they) brings the mini materials reuse center, rich with art making materials from the recycling bin and (very clean) trash. We take time to joyfully & mindfully discover the qualities of papers, plastics, wood, metal, glues and paints. We can design and fabricate immersive multimedia projects cooperatively and smaller personal artworks. Creativity empowers us most when we first learn the languages of materials and with that acquired language, we can create the visual poetry of communication.

Bollywood with Gayatri

Come celebrate life with a Bollywood Dance class led by Gayatri a trained dancer and a member of our school community!

This is an introduction to Bollywood Dance and the culture that it is steeped in. We will start with a stretch to awaken the body in the form of Surya Namaskars. We'll then learn introductory Bollywood dance movements, during which participants are welcome to engage in dramatic play with available Bindis, Bangles, Dupattas (Scarves) and toddler-sized skirts.

Then we'll discover the rhythm in Bollywood songs through the use of rhythm sticks. After which, we'll twirl to the melody using ribbons and scarves. Finally, we'll soak in our experience by ending in a cool down breath and laying in a restful Shavasana.

Age: 2+ and up

Child Development Workshop @ Rogers — enrolled school families only

Dr. Kayla Wong (she/her) is a school and counseling psychologist. She has worked with a diverse range of populations, including pre-school, elementary and middle school, high school, and college aged students. Dr. Wong is passionate about mental wellness and decolonizing psychology, and has special interests in identity development, and understanding and healing from microaggressions and oppressive experiences. Above all, she is dedicated to raising her young daughter to know joy, freedom, and self-compassion.

“Our kiddos are learning, adapting, and growing, quickly and fiercely. As parents, you’ve also navigated raising your little ones through unique (and sometimes uncertain) times. This workshop will inform how the mission and philosophy of the Collective Kind supports your child’s development and playful learning. Through a community and nature based orientation, in an anti-biased and child-led environment, you will learn about childrens’ daily experiences at Collective Kind. Additionally, we will provide insight on how we establish safety and support development during Covid-19, and how we seek to nurture the individual needs and strengths of each child.”
