Fort Greene OPEN HOUSE: DJ basics + hands-on fun!
Join Collective Kind for 2027-28 OPEN HOUSE with CK DJ dad Shashin Khanna. Join us for a fun, hands-on introduction to DJing for families. We’ll explore the basics of mixing music — from counting beats and choosing the next song to fading between tracks, and experimenting with a few fun DJ effects. Parents and kids will also have a chance to get behind the DJ controller and try mixing some music themselves. No experience necessary — just come ready to listen, learn, and have fun! You’ll also have the chance to learn more about Collective Kind Montessori’s opportunities for Preschoolers 2-5 year olds!

Communal Mosaic Making
Join the Collective Kind community for a communal mosaic making workshop for families with young children in Prospect Park between East Dr. + Imagination Playground! CK grown up Rebecca will lead families through creating mosaics using beans and air dry clay.

Family Sing-a-Long
Join the Collective Kind community for a family sing-along in Fort Greene Park! This music event for 2-5 year-olds and their grownups will feature a story read-aloud, making an instrument to take home, and singing, dancing, and shaking along to some kid classics! No musical skills necessary, just the joy of singing! Or the joy of bubbles. Both will be present.

Rogers THRIFT STORE
Collective Kind @ Rogers will open transform into a THRIFT STORE and open our doors for a clothing, book and toy thrifting opportunity for folks to swing by and grab new digs at low prices! We have tons of adult and child clothing of all seasons and sizes as well as gently used toys and books. Grab a bag and fill it at a sliding scale price range between $20-$100. All proceeds go directly to support our teachers and staff in covering healthcare cost increases.

We Love Our Neighbors Fundraiser
Join Collective Kind as we celebrate and raise money for Mixteca, a local organization that hosts programs, adult education resources, social justice advocacy for immigrants’ rights, legal referral services, and more for South Brooklyn’s Mexican and Latinx immigrant communities.

Through experimenting with mixing colors and exploring different brush textures, children and adults alike contribute their unique ideas, learning that every mark matters and that creativity is even more powerful when shared. Music with Jonathon
Music with Jon at Collective Kind is listening, movement, creation, connection, representation, and engages students in learning and understanding the diverse world around them. With a decade and a half of experience in making music with littles, Jon seamlessly mixes the preschool classics with “pop” music during classes. Classes follow a sort of seasonal curriculum: singing about the weather, seasons, celebrations, etc. Incorporating what he calls “mini music theory,” through vocal and instrumental exploration, children learn scales, solfeggio, classical music terminology, and explore literacy and other languages. Most importantly, Jon's main goal for his students is to help them grow their self confidence through learning and loving music!
